QUILT MARKET

We are going to Quilt Market to see all the new and exciting fabrics and products. This will be my first trip to market. I am looking forward to this.

I hope you have checked out our new website. We will be expanding it as we go along.

Come in and check out all the new fabrics that have been arriving. It is all so great looking. I want to make a quilt out of every new thing I see.

Moda now has Sweet Rolls and Turnovers. They will be available shortly. There are great new patterns to go with them. These are more precuts that will help you busy ladies. The Sweet Rolls are one and half inch strips and the Turnovers are 6 inch squares cut in half diagonally. They will be fun to work with.

October is getting away

October is going by very fast. The holidays and the new year will be here before you know it. Things at the shop are as busy as ever as you can tell by my not posting for a while. There are lots of new things going on.



You may have noticed our emails now have pictures and graphics. We also have a our new website up and running. Bear with us as we continue to work on it and expand as quickly as we can. The website is rrquilts.com. We will still try to get emails out to you weekly.



We have lots of new fabrics in. Wildflower Serenade, Woodland, Blooms, the 3rd Wizard of Oz collection, new dots in teal/brown and pink/brown. We have some matching checks also. We are expecting Recipe for Friendship any day. We have a great looking Siberian Tiger collection. Check out the great wall hanging on the website.

We have completed our rework of the notion wall and it is a little more organized. I have been moving things around again so you will have to come in a see all the changes. I like to keep things "stirred up".

WHAT'S NEW TODAY?

We got in a few bolts of batiks, elementals in taupe's and greys. These are really great neutrals with a kind of scroll work on them. Some dots and stripes also arrived.



We also started ( a few weeks back actually) a section of fabrics that you can get at 25% off if you take the whole bolt. This is and end of bolt that we have going all the time. The last day of the month (which is next Tuesday) we still have the end of the bolt on any bolt in the store.

On Wednesday October 1st Candy is going to do a template demo featuring Marti Michell piecing system. We carry quite a few of her templates. Come in and see what Candy has to show us. I am sure she will have some interesting ideas.

GET YOUR KICKS ON ROUTE 66

That famous mother road is on some new fabric by Michael Miller. Come in and get some kicks and some of this fabric. It is a great looking collection.

Next week I will be hanging several of Yvonna's quilts, sort of a mini trunk show. We will be rotating them over the next few weeks. This will be a great chance to see samples of her quilt patterns. IT'S MONDAY

A new week has begun. I wonder what exciting things are in store for us this week. It is always fun to see what new collection or books that come in. I have so many new things coming. I can't wait till Quilt Market. This will be my first year. I am excited about seeing what they have to offer for the coming year. Leave me a comment on what you are interested in seeing, like colors or patterns or notions. I am interested in what you would like to be able to get here at the shop. HERE COMES THE WEEKEND

The weekend is here and it is time for sewing. I really get the sewing bug this time of year when it starts cooling off. I start thinking of the cool nights and how I need some more cozy quilts.

The picture at the left is the Cider Mill Road collection. The picture doesn't give true colors. It is in several color ways. The colors are pomegranate, juniper, aquamarine and willow just to name a few. It is a beautiful collection.

FABULOUS FALL

This was a fast easy quilt to make for fall. It take 1 layer cake and a little extra yardage and you have wonderful fall quilt. I made this from the Fabulous Fall collection from Moda. It has wonderful colors and prints.
The quilt top just took 2 evenings to make.

Cider Mill Road by Nancy Halvorsen has arrived. It has lots of color and prints. We are working to get it out on the floor in the next couple of days.

The $2 per yard fabric is very popular. Ladies are coming in and checking it and scooping up the bargains. We have also put quite a few notions on sale as we are updated and reorganizing our notion wall. The makeover of the store still goes on.

NEVER ENOUGH ROMANCE

If you like red and white this is your fabric. It is designed by Alex Anderson. The flower is a really fun piece. I am thinking an apron would look great in this fabric.

We had a great Saturday. We had new quilters in and they are having fun. We are helping them to get started in this great hobby. You ladies are really getting into checking out the $2 per yard bolt special. It goes fast each day. Saturday was really hopping.

Wildflower Serenade is going fast . We still have a couple layer cakes and jelly rolls left and some bolts also.

FABULOUS FALL

Fall is my favorite season of the year!. I love the cool nights and the days getting cooler. I love all the vibrant colors and getting cozy in a quilt or at least be making some quilts.

We have in a new collection called Fabulous Fall. We have bolts of fabric, layer cakes, jelly rolls, charm squares. They have some beautiful fall prints.

We have extended the sale on selected fat quarters. They can still be had for $1 each. Still some books and patterns.

We are expecting Woodland Bloom by Lila Tueller, and Portabella Market by 3 Sisters any day now. Come in and check it out.

WILDFLOWER SERENADE

This is a new collection by Kansas City Troubles called Wildflower Serenade. It has a civil war look to it. We also have layer cakes and jelly rolls.

We have also started a new thing. Each day we pull a couple of bolts of fabric and and they will be up front by the register. These bolts will be $2 per yard for that day. (1 yard minimum) This is a good way to get some backings or borders.Come in and check it out.

I am working on the Buck a Block series for next year. We will have two color ways again. They are quite different in colors and style. I think you will really like them. This year we are assured of the availability of the fabrics into late 2009 and 2010, so we don't anticipate having any problems with the having finishing kits available. I hope to have finished samples of the quilts very soon.

Friday the 12th is Machine quilting class. It is from 1-4pm. Kit will be provided. Come in and learn some basics on getting your quilt top ready to quilt and learn some basic stitches.

WHAT FUN!!!!!!!!

Luau was such fun. The demo was very popular. Candy showed us even more ideas. We may have to make this an on going thing. The kits were popular. We still have a few and we will put them on the 50% off wall.

The picture above is a new Christmas flannel. It has a bit of a vintage look. It is very very soft. It is called Kiddie Christmas. The holidays are approaching fast. Come in now and get started on those Halloween, Fall/Thanksgiving and Christmas projects.

LUAU TIME AND NEW MERCHANDISE

Luau is tomorrow and Saturday. Come by and get some great bargains. We have some new fabric collections in I will try to get them out as soon as possible and get some pictures on the blog. We have some new Christmas flannels also. We have Wildflower Serenade by Kansas City Troubles, Woodland Bloom jelly rolls and layers cakes, by Lila Tueller, fabric to arrive shortly. IS FALL AROUND THE CORNER?

I really love this cool morning we are having here. Fall is just around the corner. It is my favorite season. I noticed some of the trees in my neighborhood are already beginning to change colors a little. I like fall because it really gets me in the mood to quilt, as if I need any more encouragement.

The machine quilting class last Saturday was a great. The ladies had a good time and are wanting the next step as soon as possible. They really got motivated. Next Beginner class is September 12.

Autumn Leaves class is coming up next Tuesday, September 16th. Mark your calendar to sign up for this fall beauty. It is constructed of a minimum number of pieces and goes together pretty quickly. You will also get some other great ideas. Yvonna always has a lot of info for you.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND

We will be closed on Monday, Labor Day. We wish you all a great weekend.

We have been stocking the shelves with some great fabrics and notions. We have been putting some new things on the color walls. There are new browns, blacks, dots, reds, whites, creams, fall, marble mates just to name a few. Getting to unpack all the new things coming is kind of like getting to open presents. It is fun to see all the new fabrics and books and such.

We also have the new Travelers Companion book and CD. With the CD you can just print out the pages you need and you wouldn't have to carry the big book around. It is very user friendly.

We are gearing up for our Luau weekend. It will lots of fun and great bargains galore. Don't miss it.

THOSE MARVELOUS MARBLES

We have just recieved a new shipment of Moda Marbles. There are quite a few brand new colors. We aslo have a limited amount of Marble Jelly rolls. They are in 4 different color ways. We have a couple of new fall/Halloween patterns by Sandy Gervais. The very popular Runaround bag pattern is back in. We have 12 Days of Christmas Book and fabric by Nancy Halvorsen. I am unpacking boxes of new merchandise as fast as I can. We have a new fabric lines coming in, Woodland Blooms, Fabulous Fall, Wildflower Serenade to name a few. Keep checking in to see all the new things comiing in. Quilt Market is just around the corner, so I will be checking out what is coming up. Keep on quilting, it's good for you.

Colorful Flannels

Here is a picture of the bright flannels we just got in.Some of the fabrics have dinosaurs on them and some have bright dots and some are tone on tone. We will be making some rag quilt kits with these.

We will be closed Monday, September 1st for Labor Day. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Our next Wednesday demo will be September 3rd. Candy will be demonstrating different embellishment techniques. If I remember correctly this will be a hands on class. Mark your calendar to come by and see what she will be doing.

CATCHING UP

We have new fabrics in. We have Never Enough Romance which is reds and whites. It is designed by Alex Anderson. There is one blue piece and one black piece that we got. We have some new flannels, it is Dinosaur Uproar. We also have stocked up on white tone on tone and cream tone on tone. There are also some miscellaneous bolts of colors.

We have the little gripper and the larger gripper back in. The shape cut rulers have arrived. They are great for for when you have a lot of strips to cut.

Basic Machine Quilting class starts this Saturday. Come sign up for this class and learn some basics of meander, loop de loop and stitch in the ditch and more.

Paducah Nine Patch class is Tuesday September 2nd. 6- 9 pm. This is a quilt made of charms squares. You can cut your own or purchase precut packs. Come sign up.

Luau is coming September 5th and 6th. There will be some great sales . I will post the sales in a couple of days. Candy Norris will be doing the very popular demo Help From the Hardware Store again. I f you didn't get to be at the first one don't miss this one . It will be a lot of fun.

Wednesday Demo was Fabulous

The demos on Wednesday was really fun. Candy showed us a new way to think when you are at the hardware store and office supply stores. We will be scheduling it again real soon. We have several requests to do it again and I just bet she will have even more ideas for us.There was even a nifty idea from the baby store that quilters can use. She showed us new ways to use painters tape and levelers, buckets, suction cup holders and lots more. Next time I am at the hardware and office supply I will think a little differently. Thanks so much Candy, it was great!!

We are making plans for our Luau September 5th and 6th. Decorate some flip flops and come on in for the end of summer bash! We will have lots of fun and even some sales. Plan now to attend. Candy will be doing Help From the Hardware Store demo at Luau.

We were so busy yesterday that I didn't get a chance to take a picture of Joanna's Spellbound quilt for Halloween. It is a fun quilt for Halloween. We have 4 kits left. It has a kind of Harry Potter type look.

We have some new Thimbleberries in. We have new samples up. There is a new collection for boys called Construction. It has a panel and fabrics to match that is all about heavy construction and trucks like little boys like.

COBBLESTONE CLASS

This class is coming up Tuesday August 5th. It is one session and the cost is $15. Formerly called The Long and Skinny, this can become a "go-to" pattern when you need a quilt in a hurry. This is great quilt made from a layer cake, or you can cut your own 10 inch squares.You will have a wonderful quilt in no time at all will the quick layer cutting of this pattern. Pattern purchase required.Come in or call and reserve your spot.

CUSTOMER STASH SALE

Our customer stash sale is this Friday and Saturday. There are still tables to rent if you would like to sell some of your stash and sewing items you may not use or want any more.

Come in and browse what some of our customers are parting with. You may just find that piece of fabric you have been looking for or notion that you have been searching for. The ladies will have their tables set up ready for you

Where have I Been?

Sorry it has been a while since I posted. There was a death in my family plus getting ready for retreat and Shop Hop just kept me way way busy. Then my computer had to go in for a little work. Enough of that.

The ladies at Retreat had lots of fun and adventures from what I hear. Lots of sewing and fun all the way around.

There are new fabrics and books in. There is still Christmas fabrics coming in. We are planning 2009 Buck a Block. It is going to be great.

Windmill Star Chain

The Windmill Star Chain block is framed by Chain blocks that are a variation of Puss-in-the-Corner, is easy to make. During class you will learn how to make the two simple blocks, see some setting variations as well as learn some cutting techniques useful for scrap quilts. Pattern purchase required This class is Tuesday, August 19th 6-9 pm.

Summer Retreat starts tomorrow, Friday the 18th. Come by and sign up. If you can't do overnight, come sign up for the day.

America Supports You will be here on Friday the 18th sewing for our soldiers. They are making cool ties for our troops. You don't have to be able to sew to come help. There are non sewing parts that you can help with. Please come by and lend a hand and your support. We thank you so much.

Top of Texas Quilt Ship Hop starts next week. July 24th-26th. There are 10 shops participating so there is lots of hopping to do See you there.

Another Preview

This is another sample for a class coming up this this fall. It is Charing Cross Roads. Yvonna will be teaching the class. It is October 14th, 6-9 pm. Cost is $15.00. She has several more classes coming up also.

Summer Retreat starts Friday. Those of you that would like to just come for the day on Saturday can come. Call the shop for the details and cost.

Shop Hop is is July 24th through July 26th. We will extend our hours on Thursday and Friday.

Come sew with America Supports You Texas on Friday. This group is sewing cool ties for our soldiers in Iraq. We want to support them and our soldiers so come on in Friday and help out. They will start sewing at 1pm.

Preview

This is a preview of an upcoming class on the Twisted Bargello. This class is back by popular demand. Tamra put a new twist on the twist and appliqued turtles on this one. It is a fabulous quilt. We also have a few kits already cut for you. Come in and pick one up and sign up for the class. This is an easy class and you will have lots of fun. The class is Saturday, August 16th. 10 - 4 pm.

The retreat is next week for anyone wanting to sign up. It is Friday the 18th thru Sunday the 20th. Lots of fun planned for you.

July is Here

Open House was a great success. Thanks to all the ladies who did demos for us. They were so much fun. There are classes coming up on the folded potholder and on the Town Purse. Come in and get signed up. I am signing up for both.

The R & R Quilt Shop summer retreat is coming up July 18th - 20th. It will be at the Bishop DeFalco Retreat Center, Lots of sewing and fun planned for you.

Merry & Bright Christmas collection by Sandy Gervais arrived this week. There are couple of panels with it that will make a great wall hanging and table runner. The table runner panel has lots of possibilities. A couple other Christmas pieces have Christmas candy on them. Those fabrics always go so fast.

Through the Season's class will be starting next week. Sister's Square in a Square will be starting next week also. It has a Civil War type theme this year.

I just saw one of my fabric reps yesterday. I had a lot of fun picking out new fabrics. Deb Strain, Sandy Gervais, April Cornell has new lines coming out. New notions and patterns. Come in often to see all the new things coming in . Keep on quilting and support your local quilt shops. We thank you so much.

What A Day

WOW! The first day of Open House has been great. We had so much fun. There was a great turnout and the demos were pretty full. A lot of great ladies came in and we already have some new classes forming that is not on the class schedule. I will post more details later. Tamra brought in a new Bargello with appliqued turtles that is awesome. We put it up on a wall right away. Connie and Shannon were great helping out with our special events. They were great.

Come on in and see the great fabrics and notions and the great things to be had. There isn't much space that doesn't have a new quilt sample up.

The Fabric folding pen is such a less messy way to do freezer paper applique. The ladies really enjoyed seeing that. The purse demos were a hit also. Janelle's folded fabric potholder was awesome. A quick gift to whip up for someone. The Accucut system was a hit also. The ladies liked the idea of getting kits cut out so precise.

If you didn't get a chance to come in today be sure to stop in on Saturday and join the fun and have some refreshments and maybe win a door prize. See you tomorrow.

Open House

Open House is this Friday and Saturday. All fabric on the bolt will be 20% off. We will have a special for the last orange bag ladies. The managers special will be Jim Shore figurines at 20 % off Friday ONLY. Computer Cd's and DVDs in the computer cabinet at 20% off and Saturday ONLY. Come in and see all the new samples.

Indian Hatchet class starts tomorrow night. Come in and sign up and make a great quilt.

We have the new Sewline mechanical fabric marking pencils and glue pens in. It's the latest hot new notion.

Come in for all the neat demos we have going. There are some interesting demos. I want to see the binding tool demo and the purse made with a Cool Whip tub, and oh my I want to see them all.

Open House and More

Open house will June 27th and 28th. We are nailing down all the details. We are not mailing a newsletter this time. We are trying to keep costs down every where we can so we can keep price increases to a minimum. We will have a schedule of classes for you to pick up at the shop. We are mailing a postcard to those of you whose email address we don't have. Please stop by or call and make sure we have your correct email or add yours to the list. I will be sending out a more detailed email to those of you that have signed up your emails.

We have many new classes and events planned so be sure and come in and pick up your calendar of events. We have some new books and patterns that came in today. We have several of new hot notion items that have arrived.

The retreat is coming up in mid July. There are a couple of openings left. Come by or call us to reserve your place. A weekend of nothing but quilting, and having lots of fun.

Middle of the Week

Today was Pineapple Club day at the shop. There was a good turnout. The ladies bring great food and have such a good time chatting and sewing. And of course Saundra brings those killer brownies. Everyone has a beautiful quilt they are working on.

Today was demo day at the shop. We demonstrated the Accucut system for die cutting fabrics. We have quite a few templates for cutting accurate pieces for quilts.We have a double wedding ring, 2 types of Dresden plate, rag quilts, and many more. We will be putting together quilt kits that all the pieces will be precision cut. We will be demonstrating it again real soon.

More Christmas fabric today and a Halloween collection called Spellbound. I will try to get some pictures up soon. We get so busy at the shop that I have a hard time getting around to taking pictures.

Indian Hatchet Class

The Indian Hatchet class is coming up. It is June 24th, 6-9 pm. There is still room for a few more.

Come sign up for this one. Some of the ladies have been in picking out their fabrics and there is going to be some pretty quilts.

We got another shipment of Christmas fabric today. We also got in a Halloween collection called Spellbound.

The new Quilter's Travel Companion 10th editon is in. New magazines, Quilter's Newsletter and Quiltmaker is in. There are several new books in.

We had a busy busy fun day on Saturday. The ladies enjoyed shopping the bargains. The selected Thimbleberries fabric is still at 50% off.

More New Fabric

We have a new toile like Christmas fabric, it has a black/cream version and red/cream version. It has a vintage look to it. We also have another collection of gold/red/green colors. They are very beautiful pieces. One bolt came in with Christmas candy all over a black background, very cute.

Friday was very very busy. It is so much fun to see you come in. We have so much fun chatting with you all and seeing your projects.

I am working on many projects for you. Coming soon will be a program to earn a free book. I will send an email and blog post about it as soon as it is ready. Keep tuned in.

New Fabric,Old Fabric

New fabric is arriving daily. I am putting new fabric on the floor as fast as I can. We have had several boxes coming in daily. It is like opening presents. We received a southwest batiks. The colors are so deep and rich looking. There are a few solids and some with southwest themes like kokopellis, horses, adobes, etc. These Batiks are going fast. June is the month we start getting the Christmas, it is starting to come in. Twelve Days of Christmas by Nancy Halvorsen came in today.

We are making room for some new Thimbleberries that will be arriving shortly. I have nearly emptied the Thimbleberrie section and all these selected fabrics are 50% off, yep you read right 50% off. Thimbleberrie Club members will receive an extra discount. We have selected books on sale for 35% off. You just never know what I might throw on sale each day.

FREE DEMOS

Starting next Wednesday June 4th we will be having free demos at the shop. Each Wednesday afternoon their will be a new demo or technique going on from 1:30 -5 pm. Come by and see what is happening. June 4th we are going to be demoing some rulers and templates. (is demoing a word?). If you have something that you would like to know more about please let us know so we can get on the schedule.

This Monday, June 2nd is the day that ladies meet to work on the Quilts of Valor for our soldiers. We would love for more ladies to come a sew up a quilt for our brave soldiers. Please join them for a good cause and some great fellowship.

We have also extended our sale on selected books at 35% off. Come in and see the goodies. These titles are are 1 copy left titles so we thought we would free up some space and pass some savings on to you. We want more room to bring in all the new items. Bargello

This is Brownie's bargello. Please forgive my picture taking. Pictures just do not do this justice. At least my picture doesn't, but I hope you get a little idea how beautiful this quilt and pattern is. This quilt is fabulous! Brownie did a fantastic job.
She did it in Christmas fabrics and it is just gorgeous. The pattern is Lightning Strikes.

We had a class on bargello about a month ago. There is interest again. If you are interested in a class leave a comment. the teacher would be glad to do it again. I posted another bargello in the side bar. The pattern for it is Twisted Bargello. The quilt was made by Martha M.

This is a quilt with a lot of color and movement.

This is one bright and merry Christmas quilt. We have free patterns at the shop.

A couple of ladies brought their finished Bargello tops they had finished up after taking the class.

They were great. I will post pictures later this weekend. I love it when you bring in your projects to share with us. It inspires our other ladies not to mention me. I want to do them all.

HAPPENINGS

The pace at the shop just stays pretty lively these days. We had a great turnout last week for Pineapple Club. The food was good and the fun was awesome. The ladies just sewed and chatted away the day. Saundra T"s brownies are wonderful.

We are starting a Managers Special sale on Saturdays. Starting a 9:30 there will be a basket of things on sale and it will be first come, first serve while supplies last. It will be a surprise each week. Sometimes it will be books, or patterns, or notions or whatever pops in my brain that morning. There will be a limited amount of items each week so check in to see what we have.

There many new samples up. We have some very busy ladies doing some great samples for us. Joanna has finished Bountiful Blessings. I will post a picture soon. It is a very vibrant quilt. Joanna is one talented quilter.

Open House will be in a few weeks. We are working on our newsletter. The new classes are lining up. There will lots of free demos. There will be lots of fun, sales and special happenings so keep tuned in.

Thursday Update

This week has really gone by so fast . Laurel Burch fabric is selling fast. Fresh Squeezed is going fast also. That has been very popular. We have new books in. Pineapple Club had a great turnout this week. We all enjoyed the the much needed rain. We sure enjoy all our friends coming in shopping and sharing their projects. It is great to see all the talent and creativity. I really love to see all your projects.

Indian Hatchet class is coming up in June. There is still some room in this class and also Garden Friends has a couple of openings. Garden Friends starts this Saturday, May17th. Get your spot for these classes reserved now. Hope everyone enjoyed the cool weather and the rain. Happy Quilting.

Summer Basket

This is the latest sample by Joanna using the Summer Basket of Flowers collection. What a gorgeous summer quilt. She has been very busy making some great new samples of quilts.

Summer Basket of Flowers

One of our new collections from Moda that has come in.This is a summertime fabric with several coordinating prints to make a great quilt. There is a free pattern to make a beautiful quilt.

We are making way for new collections that will be arriving shortly.

We have added some notions to our sale corner. Come in and check out the bargains.

The shop is really bustling with activity. We have some great demos lined up for Open House in June. Be sure and come see us at Open House..

Laurel Burch Fabrics

Bountiful Blessing is the new Laurel Burch collection. True to form, these fabrics have very vivid colors, there are quite a few bolts of prints and solids. There is a free pattern to go with it or you can have fun designing your own.

Since we are talking about Laurel Burch fabrics, we have put all her older fabrics on sale. The sale on these will run through 5/17/08. The fabrics will be 30 % off. (Excluding Bountiful Blessings and Laurel Burch Basics.)

While the word sale is on my mind, all Christmas fabric (excluding Bountiful Blessings) is on sale at 30% off until 5/31/08. Come and get a early start on your Christmas projects

Busy Week

It has been very busy here at the shop. I have been checking in lots of new fabrics, books, notions etc. I have been working on some new looks for the shop. There are many new samples up.

The shop is gearing up for some upcoming events. Open House will be in a few short weeks and then Top O Texas Shop Hop will be shortly after that. More things are in the works for the summer and fall, stay tuned for the details. I will post more details as plans become completed.

MODA FUN

WOW!! it has been a busy week. We have received several new collections from Moda. We have some Fresh Squeezed which is very bright and reminds you of summer and a tall glass of lemonade. This collection has stripes, dots, plaids, solids, floral, hmmmm....... maybe you should just come see it and all the new collections. Just to name a few.....
